A tabletop exercise gives a team room to discuss a hypothetical incident before it has to make decisions under pressure. This sample session keeps the scenario simple and the discussion focused.
Set one learning objective
The fictional team wants to understand how an initial report reaches the right responder. It does not try to test every part of its response plan in a single meeting.
The facilitator shares a short scenario: an employee reports an unexpected account notification. Participants explain what information they would collect and who they would involve.
Explore the decision points
As the scenario develops, the facilitator introduces a second report from another employee. The group discusses who can decide to widen the investigation and how that decision would be recorded.
Where answers differ, the facilitator captures the uncertainty. The aim is to find unclear responsibilities and missing information, rather than score individual performance.
Turn discussion into follow-up
The session ends with a small list of actions: clarify the initial contact route, update a response checklist, and confirm who can approve urgent account changes.
Each action has an owner. The team schedules a review of those actions before planning another exercise, so the discussion leads to a practical improvement.
